Antique Lighting – Empire Style
The 19th century was a particularly rich period of time for the development of European stylings. Antique Lighting of the Empire Period, from approximately 1804 – 1815, was a classic style generally associated with France. It had it’s counterpart in the Regency style of England. Other European countries developed their own versions of these designs based on the French taste. It is possible to find Scandinavian and Russian designs of graduated crystal chains that clearly resemble French and English designs. Antique Lighting of this styling has been reproduced up to the present time.

There are many variations of this classic antique lighting style. New Metal Crafts displays both antique and contemporary versions of this style including a reproduction of a Russian Alexander 1st style. The New Metal Crafts collection includes fine examples of Czech reproductions in our general collection as well as some genuine period French Empire chandeliers in our Antique Collection.
